about us
 |
Norbel Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial institution that exists solely for the benefit of its members. Here's what that means for you:- You can save hundreds even thousands of dollars a year, depending on what services you use. That's because profits are often returned to the members in the form of lower service charges, lower loan rates, and higher dividend rates.
- Norbel strives to offer exceptional products and services to our members while maintaining strong financial responsibility.
- Our members own Norbel and have a say in how the credit union is run. You have voting privileges and may also run for the volunteer positions on the Supervisory Committee and Board of Directors.
And it means you can come to us for financial advice or help, knowing that we have your best interests in mind.
Norbel Credit Union the better option for banking! A credit union is a locally run financial cooperative owned by the members who save and borrow here. So our interests are in helping members experience financial health. Credit unions are different from banks and savings and loans in that those financial institutions are mainly in business to make a profit. They're owned by stockholders who are interested in earning a healthy return on their individual investments.
Like other financial institutions, credit unions are highly regulated. The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is an agency of the federal government; it recently increased deposit insurance up to $250,000, the same amount that's insured at banks.
As for our history, Norbel was founded in 1940 by the late Marvie Bell in Greeley, Colorado. At that time, Norbel had fewer than 100 members and a steadfast dedication to the mission of "people helping people."
For 67 years, with close to 17,000 members, Norbel's unwavering commitment to "people helping people" still exists... and always will.
